my fiance is convinced we're having twins lol.
he's been having dreams about it and evidently all the women who have married into the family have had twins skipping a generation. his grandma had twins and it goes back skipping a generation for quite some time. i just found out recently that twins do run on my mom's side. my grandma's sister was a twin, but the other one was stillborn due to a fall late in pregnancy.
i'll kind of be excited if it is twins. a boy and a girl would be perfect since my son wants a brother and sister .
i have a feeling it's going to be a boy though. my instinct was right with my first son, so we'll see.

Lol that's how it is in my family (skips a generation). I knew there was a chance I would have them but never actually thought I would...SURPRISE! lol

EDIT: just reread it.. they have to run in your family for fraternal but you could still have identical.

I don't think twins running in his family would effect your pregnancy, but twins in your family could. :)

The only way that you could get pregnant with twins is if the women in YOUR family have a habit of ovulating twice in one month, creating fraternal twins.

Nothing on his side of the family will effect you.

Identical twins are a "freak happening."

Twins run on my mom's side skipping a generation, but neither my sister nor me has gotten pregnant with them yet. :P

Some other factors are your age and weight, and apparently whether you eat yams. lol

Nobody in either of our families had twins, as far back as we know. So it definitely was a shock when we found out there were two minions in there.

For fraternal twins, you have to have recieved the gene from either your mom or your dad. What happens on your SOs side of the family jas no influence on it. Good luck! You'll know once you get that first ultrasound or hear the heartbeat for the first time.

Quoting Klaus:" I don't think twins running in his family would effect your pregnancy, but twins in your family could. :)"

I know it doesn't effect me at all from his family, but the women who married in didn't have any twins that ran on their side at all. but it still ended up happening, there were 2 sets of identical twins and 2 sets of fraternal twins that ended up being born.

I've heard the yams thing because evidently women in africa have the highest twin rate and they eat a main source of yams for their diet.
