Quoting Ravey Candyass:" 4 is the worst age of them all."

My older two were really okay at 4, but my youngest didn't really have her "bad" streak till after she turned 5 in September. But she is really not even bad. She asked me for something a couple of days ago and I said "No," and a few minutes later she said to me, "Momma, I don't like this 'no' word."

I would make her give him her favourite toy.

We do this sometimes with DD, she tries to pick something stupid but we know what her favourites are lol. Usually we tell her she can have it back in a couple days and put it somewhere that she can see and not touch. Frequently over the week she'll ask for it back, and it gives us the chance to remind her why she lost it.

I'm going to agree with this, lol

There's so many great things about this age, but it's more 'trying' than the younger ages.... Terrible twos doesn't even exist compared to four aha

I backed her ass in the wall doesn't mean you've got to come and defend her now. She should have shut her mouth from the jump."</blockquote>

I really didn't get that out of this thread. I felt like things got heated because things were taking out of context and things were said to flare up people's feelings.

Anyways, doesn't matter it's over now lol

Quoting Kayla [:)]♥:" 4 year olds' don't think things through, and they definitely don't sit there and think "How can I possibly ... [snip!] ... I use both of these on my 4 year old (turned 4 in January). I am huge on teaching discipline. 4 year olds can be a*****es. lol"

I think my 4 year old knows how to purposely piss someone off more than she knows the value of a dollar lol

Lol. Mine too. He will walk up & snatch the toy out of his brothers hand. Then my 6yo will push him & screaming & wrestling ensues.

Currently they reading books together, give it 5min & one will be screaming "X did this". Lol. It never ends.

Quoting Kayla [:)]♥:" Oh no, not saying they don't purposely do things. Just that they don't think them through before doing it  My son knows all about money. lol"

DD knows about money, but she doesn't "value" it. I've made her pay for things she had broken and explained it to her, but she just cheerfully goes to her piggy bank and hands over the money lol

DD thinks the bank gives me money whenever I want. If she wants something I can't afford and I tell her I don't have the extra money for that she goes "go to the bank!!! They have money!!!" Lol

I think the severity of the punishment depends on if DD knew she shouldn't do it and if she knew that DS would be hurt by it. If she didn't know or realize then the punishment should be something like have her plant one for him and give it to him with an apology and take away a privilege, like TV for the day. If she intended to be mean, then the punishment should be more harsh. Take away something that is very special to her?
