Well damn! Yea I wouldn't want to say anything like that either.
Quoting ♥MamaToSilas♥:" I live in a duplex. It is not part of my agreement with the landlord to do any yard maintenance. But ... [snip!] ... lawn mower to her. She was just going to borrow her parents but our landlord is nice. She does all the mowing and snow removal."
Nice! I don't know what the other tenant is paying but given the average and what we're paying and what he gets, I can guarantee we're paying more than double what he is :x
Quoting Rd.:" On top of that, I can't ask my parents for help because they just bought DD a bike per my request. Had ... [snip!] ... asked for help with that lol Lets just hope that lawn doesn't prosper for another month ahaha, because then we'll be fine."
Try looking at garage sales. My MIL just sold hers at a garage sale for like $20.
Is it in your lease?
If not, then your most likely not responsible for it.
My mom rents out one of her houses and my mom pays for someone to go out to the house to do all the yard work.
She figures it'll save her money if the yard is kept up instead of being ruined if the renters don't take care of it.
You for sure. If you are resonsible for yard care then that should include you purchasing or paying for lawn mower/service. I honestly thought people always knew that. You can buy a manual one for like 30$

This is my first time renting a house...
we mow with our own mower, the landlord takes a hundred bucks off the rent
Every rental house I've ever lived in it has been the tenant's responsibility to mow the yard. Heck, my sister-in-law lives in a duplex and is expected to mow her half of the lawn.
With that said, we don't have a mower yet either. And we tried the putting it off and praying the grass wouldn't grow thing. Last weekend hubby had to borrow a mower from my friend and deal with waist deep grass. Needless to say we're working a mower into next month's budget come hell or high water...
