Borax for ants? user banned

If you've used it to get rid of ants, how did you use it?
I've read a few different approaches, and I don't know what to do.

The ants are those little tiny ones, and only in my kids' room. There's no food in there, though there were apparently 2 tiny crumbs against the wall.
So I'm not sure why they're coming in, or where they're coming in from.

Helllpppp

I used so etching similar called diamoteceous earth but all I did was sprinkle it around the exterior of my house and then I sprinkled it where they seemed to be entering.

Yeah that's what I should've got but I got them somewhat confused and sent DH to get the borax :x

Where did you buy it at, if I decide to go get some?

Well there two kinds of ants. Some you have to attract with sugar and some with protein. Here's a good article. http://tipnut.com/ant-killer/

If you have pets I don't suggest borax as it can hurt them if they get into it. Or if the kids are gonna get into it I'd look for a pet and kid friendly recipe.

I got it at Home Depot in the area with pest control supplies. It comes in like a 5lb bag.

Quoting Glo♥:" Corn meal will also kill them because they can't digest it and they take it back to the nest."

Thanks!

As for the kids and our cat, they can't get to the area where I put the little "traps" I made with it, woo!

I'm just so creeped out at the thought of them coming and going before they all die
I hate ants, they horrify me. I hate spring. This always happens. :x

We're in an apartment, unfortunately, so I don't know where I'd put it or how much it'd help :( We think they're getting into the people's apartment below us and climbing up.

And do they like, actually blow up? Or like, get real fat and die? lol

I'll maybe have to try that next. I'm just so over this! Eeewww.

I empathize. I loathe bugs in general.
My fiance put this spray stuff called Raid in certain places and ever since we never see ants and only a fly here and there where there used to be a bunch.
May be toxic to kids though, cuz I'm pretty sure my fiance said we probably shouldn't use it once Kira is here.
