I didn't circumcise.. Make sure you are 100% set on your decision. No regrets :-)

took my son about a week. I just covered his p***s in vaseline and a piece of gauze, so it wouldnt stick to the diaper, until it healed. I didnt have to do anything else. The gauze covering prevented it from being soiled.

This. It is a lot easier to clean and care for a intact p***s.

It's a lot easier on them as newborns. Are you waiting until he is 7?

You clean it like you would any other wound. I used wipes for pee, and peroxide if it got poop on it. After every diaper change, I'd put a big bunch of vasoline (you can't have too much) on his p***s, and set a little gauze pad on the glans, to keep it from sticking to the diaper. It should only take a couple weeks to heal.

If I had known then what I know now, neither of my sons would have gotten circ'd.

DS got circ'd while in the hospital as a newb. Didn't do anything really special to clean it while it healed. Hospital gave me a tube of Vaseline and the doc told me to just put a ring of it around the tip pretty much. Poop never really got on it during the healing process. Took about a week to heal up and it was fine. I believe the doc told me that if poop got on it, to just wipe gently with a warm, damp washcloth.

It's been almost 5 years since then so that's just going by my memory lol

Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm just worried about nothing lol! And nooo I'm not waiting until he's 7, he will have it done in the hospital when he's born.

My doctor used the PlastiBell circumcision device for my two youngest. After he was done it left a small ring around the tip which usually came off around a week or so. Cleaning it was easy. Really had no problems. My youngest was fully healed by about 2 weeks.

Is clamp or plastibell better? Which leaves minimal scarring? My husband has a rather large scar on his, like a chunk of skin gathered up on the bottom and I would like to avoid that if possible.

No poop worries. Plastibell, when it was ready to come off literally my son just kicked it off. It's not as bad for them as it is for the momma worrying. I wouldn't wait until they are older to get circumcised, no way. You don't pull on the foreskin at all while it is healing, afterward though if you notice it is "sticking" you do. My son had a penile adhesion and I just had to pull down on the skin to make sure it wasn't fusing back together.
