Preschool is 5-7 min drive, kindergarten will be about 15-20 min drive. We moved here because where we were, (in another district), the kindergarten he would have gone to (which I didn't even like) would have been a 45 min bus ride and I was NOT happy about that.
I'm much happier with this district and we found a cute little house in a safe neighborhood.
My dd's preschool is 2 blocks away and the elementary school she'll attend is about a mile.
I'd be willing to commute pretty far if there was a special program that was in her best interest. I'd commute as far for her school as I'd be willing to commute for work, so I guess up to a half hour or so each way.
DS's precshool is like 10-15 mins form my house but I go to school 45 mins away.
My son's preschool is only 4-5 miles away, but it is about a 15 minute drive because of traffic. I don't mind though, it's absolutely worth the drive.
I can get to my sons school in about 30 - 40 minutes by walking and get there with in 2 minutes of driving. It is 1.5 miles from door to door.
My sons school is 15-20 min drive away & I cannot walk there. We live out in the country though.
His school is the one they bus all the SN (non integrated) students to. It is set up well for all the students.
They bus 98% of kids to the school though. There isn't a single student that can walk or ride their bike to school.
My son's current school is a 5 min drive. I was lucky enough to get him into a charter school for next year. It has great extra curricular activities (yoga, dance, cultural etc) and instills the idea of college starting in kinder. That school is about a 20 min drive. However, if need be, I would drive my son farther if that meant he would be getting something important from one school over another.
Both my 4 yr old and almost 11 yr old go to the same school, its about a 8 min drive to the school, but about a 45min to an hr walk. lol down a long stretch of highway. lol They take the bus to school.
