she's 7 weeks old, and she would have a bowel movement 3 times a day and then all of the sudden stopped 5 days ago. she has never been the baby (so far up until 2 days ago) to cry all day and be sleepless all night and thats exactly whats going on. it breaks my heart to see her lock eyes with me and just see that shes hurting and i cannot fix her. she has terrible smelling gas, and she is just uncomfortable..
oh yeah, im EBF.
things ive tried:
stimulating the rectum with a warm wash cloth
clockwise circles with legs
warm bath with me in which she actually fell asleep so we stayed until the water started getting cool.
idk what else to do for her. im gonna call the dr in the am and probably take her in
please give me ideas to make my baby feel better
Grab your thermometer and insert it like you would to take her temperature then swirl it around a little. Make sure you have a diaper or something under her because if this is going to work, it'll work fast. It causes the bowels to move and usually does the trick. If for some reason that doesn't work you can give her a little prune juice to help her go, if you don't want her to have a bottle, give it to her with a syringe/medicine dropper.

prune juice is okay at this age?
im okay with bottles, i go back to work on Monday, she needs to learn how to take one.

Yep. DD's meds constipated her really bad (she had severe GERD) and our pedi told us we could give her an ounce of prune juice when she needed it. She was about 6 weeks old when we gave it to her for the first time.
they make infant glycerin suppositories.. if the temp thing doesnt' work. but... dont' use it often, babies can become "addicted" to them and need it for their bowels to move.
I wouldn't give my child prune juice at 7 weeks
I gave my daughter lactulose when she was seriously constipated a few weeks ago (after trying everything else). It's a sugar solution but the sugar causes laxative effects.
Not sure if that's okay for a 7 week old, I'd ask a pharmacist or doctor.
When Chloe was a newb, around 4 weeks old, she was so backed up. Her pedi told me an ounce of prune juice per day. That for sure helped until she was 'regular' again.
