Quoting P Pickle Pants:" Myson was 2.5 and attended the birth of his brother because there was no other option---I went into sudden ... [snip!] ... So, we're having him in, but a friend is coming to watch just in case he needs a break or a walk to stretch his legs, etc."
Aw! He sounds like such a sweetheart!!

He melts me and I can't wait to see him be a REAL big brother because he has so much love inside him and he's been aching to share it since his brother was born and died. His anticipation for his sister's arrival is RIDICULOUS.
"Mom, your belly is HUGE! Can she come NOW?!?"
My 3 year old was there. I handle pain extremely well, she had no idea I was in pain. She was amazed by the whole thing. Was so loving towards me, if I said ow she pointed to my crotch and would say "oh no mommy, you're okay". She would bring me stuff. It helped her understand the whole pregnancy thing I think. She didn't get in the way at all and wasn't scared. I think you just have to judge your kids personalities for that kinda thing to know if they can handle it or not.
Now if I say my belly hurts she asks if I have another baby in it though haha
My daughter was 2 1/2 when my son was born. When we first got to the hospital, it was just me and my SO (my doc sent me straight to the hospital from my doctor appointment) and our parents wouldn't be there til a couple hours later. I wasn't in any pain as my contractions were not painful at all. My parents finally came and they went to dinner around 6:30-7 and thats when I started to be in exterme pain, so I called my family and told them when they come back to not bring her back cuz I knew she would freak out. I was only in hard labor for a couple more hours and once he was born I had her come in. She was sleeping already but we woke her up and she cried when she saw him because he was getting his first shot. lol

Aw! That is too precious!
I am so sorry for your loss hun.
God no! Firstly I don't want my kids to see me in that type of pain, they saw after my water broke and the contractions started because we were dropping them off and my DDs were visibly distressed seeing me in mild pain at the start, the day before each time I had a BH my step son was on edge and kept walking right beside me freaking out.. then secondly i know after my DDs worry wears off and boredom sets in they will stress me the hell out, my eldest dd is ADHD and having her talking in my ear will just get me ratty and that not fair on her if I snap at her, step son would be a shivering nervous wreck and probably need to be sadated.
I think after baby and mama are all cleaned up and happy after is the perfect time for them to meet their new sibling.
My daughter almost saw her sister come out. I waited a bit too long to go to the hospital. I was at a 10 and none of our family had time to get to the hospital to take her. So the hospital staff entertained her while I pushed her sister out.
were not sure yet, but my 9 year old daughter really wants to be in the room when i have this baby. were having a home birth, so actuly all the kids will be home when baby is born. but she wants to be there. were also planning a water birth and from what my midwife says, theres really not alot seen in a water birth, she may see blood and all that, but she wont get a full crotch shot, like she would if we were having a hospital birth.
I think it's different based on where you're birthing. This baby is going to be a homebirth so my two year old will be allowed in the room
My son wants to help catch his sister. I have no problem with him seeing it.
Of course, I only recently quit coshowering and such. I know some people think that's odd, but we're fairly open about anatomy and such.
<blockquote><b>Quoting 11 weeks with #3!:</b>" we still so-bathe My oldest is only two though so I think I have another year or two before someone might think it was weird. lol"</blockquote>
My son is almost 4. I quit when DH got home from deployment (they still coshower). If i don't lock the door, though, he always tries to get in. He is a fish, so he often takes over my shower or bath if he can. He still sees me naked, just not as up close as before.
I mostly just quit because he hogs the tub.

I was 100% fine til he learned than his sister will come out of my vagina and now will ask to see in there to see sister if he sees me nekkid, haha
wanted my son to be there ( age 3) but he was getting restless so SO had to take him for a walk and the dam hospital didn't have a room for me. I had a bed, chair monitor and a curtain. laboring with other women in the same room or maybe just some women waiting for a room like I was. I had a unassisted birth in a hospital and yes it was awesome even though no one was there to witness it but i wish someone had been there. But this time i would like for my son to be there he will be almost 5 and for my daughter who will be 2. I dont think my daughter will understand wats going on but i still want here there. My parents and the rest of the family is going to be there so if they need to be taking out then thats just I have to do.
