Do parents exact revenge... eKnuckles Due February 13; Florida 3475 posts

It's always the same two sayings...."If someone ever did that to my child I'd kill them!" Or the other,"You don't know until you're in that position".

I honestly don't know any parent who has ever sought to 'exact revenge' from someone because of something done to their kids.

Is it really just something said out of anger, or does anyone actually seek justice on their own?
Do you think you would do something if your child was brutally harmed by another person (on purpose).

I think it's said out of anger but if its serious the cops should be called and justice should be served.

I don't believe in revenge. I don't think it's a useful concept.

If my child were brutally harmed by another person, I don't know how I'd feel, exactly, or how I would handle it, but I realize life isn't fair and that the best we can do is utilize the best judicial system we can manage.

I don't know what I would do until I am put in that position. But I can say that I am a relatively calm person so I don't know what "revenge" I'm capable of.

But my dad did seek "revenge" on my behalf once and went to jail overnight for it.

I think my SO would be the type of father that would try to get revenge. I'm a very calm person but if someone hurts my child I turn into another person. I really don't know what I would do, I guess I would have to be in the situation.

I always feel like dads, and a lot of men, act on impulse. At least all the fathers/men in my life seem too.

It depends on how old they are. If dd is a teen or older I would help her get revenge. Otherwise it would just be said out of anger.

Also, I only clarified age because sadly I know some people that would feel the need to get revenge on kids :(

I'd be more concerned about my child and how they felt than I would be about getting revenge.

I tend to find revenge slightly petty and low-class, honestly.

Lets say my child was killed by someone... I'm sorry but I know my crazy ass. I'd castrate the f****r that hurt Lily. I know I'd do it.

Lily was temporarily kidnapped by her father as a baby. If he ever kept around and so much as stepped 10 feet near her, his ass would be dead. And I would gladly spend my life in jail knowing I protected Lily. I'd give custody rights to my parents and sister... but believe me, I absolutely would kill to protect my child ESPECIALLY when it comes to her father.

I *think* I read a part of your story on an old thread? I think spoke about cps and court etc ...anyway, depending on what happened I don't know what kind of wreck I'd be in. In your example about kidnapping...I'd be a mama bear. Omg how did you HANDLE IT????

This just reminded me of a documentary (about prostitution and how most of the girls are under age and seduced/stolen into the game) where the mother's p*****n daughter was missing and she searched for months, alone, putting out fliers etc. when she was sure she found her at a pimp's place she would call the police and they never helped or did anything. She eventually busted in and got her daughter out herself.

Ugh I have a student feared to be sold into a sex ring, ugh. It's heartbreaking.

With Lily it was a day long ordeal and I was insane. I finally tracked Lily down and a cop escorted me and told me to get her in my arms, do not put her in her child seat (my Mom was driving) just to hold her and meet him at a location down the street. I was then able to put her in her seat and he said that legally my ex didn't have to give her back. Hes such a f**king c**t face. I wish he would die to be honest because legally he still has rights. It all started because he came back from Texas for 3 months and wanted to see her. One night there, he asked to see her antoher night. The third night I was telling him no but gave in because my now ex wanted to hang out because he was in town. Finally the 4th day he said "I am keeping her and you are not getting her back" when I said that enough was enough, she needed to come home. I was nursing, she needed milk and not be on formula... and he wouldn't give her back so we had to involve the police with it. He's a dickface and I truly, truly hate him.
