Any issues with Mirena? Or paragard? Jsteezy Costa Mesa, California 7 posts

Hi everyone,

So I'm only 23 right now...and due to a lot of issues like weakened tooth enamel, anxiety, weight gain etc. I'm considering getting an IUD because I can't STAND birth control any longer but I am a little scared because of the complications I'm reading about on the internet.

As a bit of background, these are the things I've tried:
-Nuvaring (ate like a MONSTER)
-Ortho tri cyclen lo (Btw. Gained 15+ pounds on this ridic!)
-Ortho tri cyclen
-Ocella (generic Yasmin)

The side effects that are REALLY scaring me (pulled from are:
-uterus perforation (wtf...can you even fix that?)
-infertility (?!?!?!)
-cysts (don't know a lot about this but don't like it)
Other stuff like cramping etc I can deal with. But when it comes to my fertility..I'm pretty paranoid. Especially because I feel like SO many girls my age right now are having a hard time conceiving. But I don't want kids *right now* I have no issues with taking birth control daily btw but don't like the side effects

Is this actually a really legitimate danger or risk? I know hormonal birth control comes with a blood clot risk but im so active and eat clean (not a smoker either) that I honestly never let that kind of stuff bother me.

If anyone with an IUD (paragard or mirena) and has any experiences to share (good or bad, want to hear it all) i'd love to hear. I totally understand that a site that has to name itself something like "mirena iud lawsuit" isn't necessarily unbiased eh? children yet. Which I know makes me somewhat of a bad candidate for a IUD. BUT I want them within the next 3-4 years so I probably won't even keep it in for the longest time that its available to me.

ALSO...I get really bad cramps and only BC has helped. I heard paragard makes your cramps WORSE and mirena makes your period stop altogether?

I had the mirina, I HATED it! It made me gain weight and it kept getting pushed down into my cervix and it hurt really bad! It happened 3 times before I gave up on it.

Oy that scares me...I heard thats how people get pregnant. I know I want kids *soon* but I want it to be on my terms:/

Paragard was definitely kind of higher up on my list because of the no hormones (and all my issues with hair, teeth, weight gain etc is clearly tied to my messed up hormones) but I heard cramps are WORSE on it...
My cramps, without birth control leave me writhing on the floor crying in pain. I can't imagine them being any worse...and I dont believe in pain killers >.<

I had the marina in for 3/4 years & had no problems with it, then I decided to get it removed because we wanted to ttc & the nurse nearly had to peel me off the ceiling because of the pain as the threads got lost. Took me 4 months to get pg but I had a m/c at 9 weeks because of that awful device & I wouldn't advise anyone to get it.

I had both. I hated Mirena. Took forever to get pregnant after Mirena and my most recent pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I had paragard also. I loved it except it got embedded in my uterus and the doctor didn't know and ripped the sucker out. It hurt horribly.
