I find this whole thing pretty fascinating. Here's the article:
The UFC wasted little time laying down the law on Matt Mitrione, suspending the heavyweight indefinitely for transphobic comments regarding Fallon Fox he made during an interview with Ariel Helwani Monday on "The MMA Hour."
Fox was born a man and underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2006 and has had two fights as a professional mixed martial artist, winning both.
Mitrione repeatedly referred to Fox as a he and called her as "a lying, sick, sociopathic disgusting freak."
"Because she's not a he. He's a he," he said. "He's chromosomally a man. He had a gender change, not a sex change. He's still a man. He was a man for 31 years. Thirty-one years. That's a couple years younger than I am. He's a man. Six years of taking performance de-hancing drugs, you think is going to change all that? That's ridiculous.
"That is a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak," Mitrione said. "And I mean that. Because you lied on your license to beat up women. That's disgusting. You should be embarrassed yourself. And the fact that Florida licensed him because California licensed him or whoever the hell did it, it's an embarrassment to us as fighters, as a sport, and we all should protest that. The woman that's fighting him, props to you. I hope you beat his ass, and I hope he gets blackballed and never fights again, because that's disgusting and I'm appalled by that."
The UFC, which announced a fighter code of conduct in January, moved swiftly to suspend Mitrione and denounce his comments.
"The UFC was appalled by the transphobic comments made by heavyweight Matt Mitrione today in an interview on 'The MMA Hour.' The organization finds Mr. Mitrione
Quoting Iron Man:" I find this whole thing pretty fascinating. Here's the article: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-c ... [snip!] ... thinking right now. What about you? Do you think that a transgendered male should be allowed to fight women in the arena? "
Did he fight in the men's arena previously?
Quoting ⚓ Sarah ⚓:" He is biologically a man, he should NOT be allowed to fight women. I'm sorry. And I agree with Matt on ... [snip!] ... was sick to want to fight women and it made the guy a freak for wanting that, hes not those things because hes transgendered. "
That was my understanding as well...I didn't see him actually attack Fox for being transgendered, just for the fact that he then wanted to go beat up women in the arena.
Ok, something else to think about here. What if it was a transgendered woman fighting men? It's a good question, but I think the same thing applies. You fight in your own gender class, guy or girl.
No he definitely shouldnt be able to.
Quoting A❤T=P&W:" No. Did he fight in the men's arena previously?"
He did not. He began his career fighting in the girl's arena...I think he's had two fights? I do know that Fox did not disclose his transgender status before going into the arena to fight his first female opponent. No one had any idea.
I somewhat agree with him. He could have chosen a better way to express his disgust though. There is certain things that transgendered shouldn't be allowed to do & competing in any sport should be one of them. There isnt a way to keep it fair for their competitors.
Wow this is a tough one! I am normally on the side of LBGT rights but I don't know how I feel about this.

that is shady.
I don't think the other guy's comments were "transphobic", I think he and all other fighters have a right to be outraged.
I listened to a whole thing about this, and no I don't think he should be allowed to. Our bodies ARE built differently and it would be unfair.
I have no problem with him being transgendered, but that doesn't change his bone density and build.
This is wrong. WTF is Dana thinking?
Oh right, all he wants is an interesting fight. That's what he's all about. No regard to how wrong this is.
If he wanted to fight in the UFC he should have kept his d**k and fought men. Just one of those things.
Quoting Smartass *Preggo!*:" Wow this is a tough one! I am normally on the side of LBGT rights but I don't know how I feel about this."
I mean, I totally think that Matt could have expressed himself better, but then again, he said it like it was. This is a person with the genetic make up of a guy going in and beating up a girl. I found a cage fighting site, and a couple more interesting things about this. First off, Fox is appearing to be a total jerk to any woman that doesn't want to fight him. If you have the time to read this (This came out after Peggy Morgan declined to fight him):
And this is also a statement from Peggy Morgan about why she refused to fight him:
[Fallon Fox] claims that any woman who refuses to fight her is really just scared. This is absolutely delusional. Before the news of Fallon
Quoting Iron Man:" Dana's an a*****e. :D Anything for the almighty dollar. Well, Cain Velasquez suggested adding a transgender ... [snip!] ... bone structure as a guy. Regardless of whether or not he sees himself as a girl, he still has the advantage of a guy's body."
Yes he is. He gets on my dang nerves.
Biologically he has a physical advantage. To me its like a woman taking steroids or something.

I'm with the UFC. Dana just earned major respect from me.
Fallon is legally female now and yes, taking estrogen and such will put her at an even keel with other female UFC fighters..,
