Clearly I think about bread/breakfast foods a little too much

You would! I am a huge bread/ carb fan lol... it's my down fall. Crumpets are so yummy, you put a crap load of butter on and the condiment of your choice..... so good.

Finally just looked up a recipe for Ranch dressing to see what's in it.

No wonder it's gross!

  • 1 cup well-shaken buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped Italian parsley
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives
  • 4 teaspoons white wine vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1 medium garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed
  • 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more as needed

INSTRUCTIONS
Place all of the ingredients in a 2-cup Mason jar or other container with a tightfitting lid. Seal tightly and shake to evenly distribute all the ingredients. Taste and season with additional salt and pepper as desired. Refrigerate until chilled and the flavors have melded, about 1 hour. The dressing will last up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

I don't know anyone who makes their own ranch. Usually it's Hidden Valley or some other brand. If you read those ingredients it's even more disgusting..

Soybean Oil, Water, Egg Yolk, Sugar, Salt, Cultured Nonfat Buttermilk, Natural Flavors (Soy), Spices. Less than 1% of Dried Garlic, Dried Onion, Vinegar, Phosphoric Acid, Xanthan Gum, Modified Food Starch, Monosodium Glutamate, Artificial Flavors, Disodium Phosphate, Sorbic Acid and Calcium Disodium EDTA as Preservatives, Disodium Inosinate and Disodium Guanylate.

Yeah I know, I just thought it might help the people in here who don't know what it is.

God knows what those chemicals are though.

They're everywhere here in Germany, but the places we lived in the US only had a few.
