So, I'll be 38 weeks on Sunday. Lately, I've had a tons of random contractions. 2 weeks ago, I had steady contractions and was put on a monitor for 6 hours and then sent home because my cervics was closed. I've been using Prim evening oil and eating pineapple and drinking OJ. I climb stairs every day a lot at my job, I don't feel the need to stop working yet lol. So anyways, today, my bf and I did it and after a few hours, I had started contracting to the point that it hurt and it was hard to breathe through them. I went to the bathroom and noticed I lost my plug. I was still contracting most of the day until I went to work where it slowed down and dulled. But as soon as I got home and started relaxing, they started coming back. My midwife said sex could cause contractions, but I don't really want to go to the hospital if sex contractions will just go away... So I'm wondering how to know when they are real contractions. Mine today were timed every 5 mins lasting a min and hurt. So idk...? First time mumma here lol
I think your supposed to go in when they are 4-5 mins apart lol.
Can you still time them now?
Not yet. They are slowly coming back. Mostly back pain right now
Quoting Kayla-Marie A:" Not yet. They are slowly coming back. Mostly back pain right now"
That could still be labor, some women have back labor.
I would call your midwife.
The placenta is basically on my spine lol, so they say that's the pain and that its normal.
My waters broke in the evening, i was having contractions every 4-10 minutes throughout the night. I called my midwife in the early morning and when she arrived i was 4cm. By that point contractions were like 3-4 mins apart and i had awful back labour, it stalled though. She left me alone for a few hours, i ate some food and had a massage and when she came back and checked me again in the afternoon i was 8cm - by this point i'd been contracting regularly for 24 hrs. I had no amniotic fluid for cushioning though, and baby was in the wrong position and i was in a wheelchair with pelvic pain.
There's quite a difference between the just difficult to breathe through ones and the excruciating pain of almost being done ones. All of them ime were difficult to breathe through, i could definitely feel when it was nearly time to be done. I started making primal noises and going mentally a bit loopy (transition phase) and that's when you're in business.
Some women just don't experience that much pain though the whole way through labor. The best way to tell is if they are getting closer together and more and more intense.
I would be checked just to be safe. I didn't start feeling real pain until I was already past 8cm. If it weren't for being put on the monitor I would have never even known I was having contractions. I felt absolutely nothing!
