My ob says we're inducing in ten days (39 weeks) and I am not at all dilated as if today's appointment.. I know inducing before dilation to at least three cm is a c section risk so what can I try to do these next nine days to dilate so my induction will go better, or perhaps go into labor to avoid induction?

Is there a reason they're pushing induction? If not I would tell your ob I'm not comfortable with that and I would rather try to wait... But that's just ne.

Why are you getting induced? I got induced when i was only a fingertip dilated and it took forever. I went in on a monday morning had two 12 hour doses of cervdil, got sent home the next day to sleep came back and had another 12 hour dose of cervidil before i finally got pitcoin thursday morning, had him thursday night.

Try walking and sex. Maybe stairs. But of course it isn't a guarantee. You can ask your doctor for a cervical ripening balloon ( or foley balloon) to help make you dilate before they start pitocin and such. I'm pretty convinced that is what helped my induction so much.

Why are you being induced? Semen softens the cervix, so if sex is possible for you give it a shot. But if your body isn't ready, it isn't ready.

I wasn't dilated when I was induced--no cervidil, just pitocin. I only labored for 12 hours....granted, it was 12 hours of unadulterated middle of the night hell, but still only 12 hours :)

But unless there is a medical reason I would pass on being induced.
