My landlord makes me angry lolarose 1 child; London, United Kingdom 217 posts

Hello everyone, well I live on my own with my young son in a flat. I have been there for nearly 2 years.
I text the landlord asking him for the meter cupboard key and he told me to get one cut from the shop and that he will refund the money, and I was fine with that ...
then all of a sudden he text me saying "have u been getting any letter to mrs x*x. any such letters have to b passed to me ASAP. Any delay wil cause charges which I wil pass to you if I find u have not told me about any such letters".

My response: " what are you talking about?? Any letters that are addressed to other people have nothing to do with me, you have to sort out your own stuff, don't involve me in such a thing. To be honest I stopped keeping letters aside a long time ago because it is not my job to care about other people's letters. You need to start making sense and how can you think about passing a charge to me? for what??"

Another text I sent him after the last one which said " You need to text me but in a way which says "if in the future you see a letter to Mrs x*x, please keep it aside for me, thank you" That is better than texting me telling me your going to pass any charges to me, I have never heard of such a thing in my life, I have no business with other people people's letters, my life is my son only.

I can't believe him, he's a chancer and wants what he can get out of people, I have always been polite to him but if he thinks he can take advantage of me then he is very wrong, how dare he, this is not the first time he has made me angry.

thank you for reading

I didn't know there was a charge for passing on mail lol We have been in our townhouse since Nov/Dec, plenty of time to forward an address so if we get mail addressed to someone else we throw it out now. Unless it looks important like a bill or something then I'll bring it to the office but seriously they should change their address if they want their mail lol

We've been in our place for more than 3 years and STILL occasionally get mail for previous tenants. I write on the envelope "return to sender, has not lived here since prior to Dec 2009" and put it back in the mail

When I would get mail for the former tenant I would just write not as this address & stick in back in the mailbox

I do that but they still send letters, it's really annoying so I just gave up doing that.
