Oh okay. I can never keep up with what you are/aren't supposed to do nowadays. It always changes lol.

I don't think you do. I got one with my first thinking I needed one. With my son though, I just got crib sheets and cute minky blanket that hangs on the side for decoration when he's not using it. Much cheaper.

Quoting *KatteyBug*:" Why aren't you supposed to use the bumpers? And no I don't think it's NEEDED but they are cute to have. I got mine on Amazon (13 pc set) for $56"

Suffocation/sids.... But my mom used them for all 3 of us and we were fine lol. I still am not going to risk it tho. Looking into getting breathable bumpers

What's a minky blanket? Like a decorative one?

You definitely dont need them. The girls both have one and I used them but you can definitely go without one. And I use the bumper pads too.

They're basically just really soft blankets, the material is called minky.

This is the one my son has, and my daughter has the same one but pink

<blockquote><b>Quoting S+K=R [36 WEEKS!]:</b>" What's the difference between a crib/toddler set? The toddler sets are still the same size as a crib mattress aren't they?"</blockquote>

Yeah but you don't get the bumber, skirt and the blanket is actually useable later. The crib set we first got the blanket was mostly for show the toddler set me got from Circo brand ( targets brand) was amazing. My kid is 3 now but uses it for a snuggle blanket on the couch.

I didn't use anything but a crib sheet and a mesh bumper with DD. She didn't even start using a blanket until like 21 mo

I really wanted a crib bedding set but didn't want to pay $170 for four pieces. I found a really cute 13 piece set from Overstock.com for $100 - it's not necessary but it is adorable (and helps tie everything together). :)
