If your child was heavier than other kids their age, and a nutritionist told you to feed them bread every meal and avoid avocado... how would you respond? The nutritionist's reason being "bread will fill her stomach up, so she's not hungry. Avocado is just fat and won't do her any good."
That sounds....off, lol.
Either there's more to the story or that person is an idiot, lol. Is this really a registered dietitian?
I would immediately find a new nutritionist considering avocado is full of healthy fats and are good for you in moderation. Hopefully they at least suggested 100% whole wheat bread!?
If be finding a new nurtrisionist ASAP. That is te complete reverse of what our nutritionist told us. She said eat bread sparingly. I asked about avocados because we love them. She said they're a super food and full of good fats. I would never give up avocado!
Unless they are feeding their kid avocado at every meal I don't see how that would be a big deal.
But bread calories are generally more empty than avocado.
I think you should look for another one.
Yeah, a nutritionist at a children's hospital. She did recommend whole wheat, which I'd be more comfortable feeding the baby than white obviously. Baby eats avocado once in awhile. I'd be fine giving her a little bit of whole wheat bread sometimes, but a slice at every meal strikes me as too much.
Uhh I would find a better nutritionist. I would just feed my kids balanced meals and include fiber and protein to keep them full.
Quoting Baboon-Loon:" I'd probably find a new nutritionist to speak to"
Feeding the child fiber will fill them up, not just bread! That's ridiculous. Feeding a kid white bread is like giving them candy.

Yeah. Also 1/2 cup of yogurt or an ounce of cheese a day. I told her that I'm not comfortable giving her dairy products until a year old, she said that if it was her baby that she would definitely give it to her. :(
