So here's a little scenario for you.

Let's say you and your mom get into a huge fight over let's say something stupid like you think she's trying to tell you what to do with your child.
You go see your friend and you tell him/her about what happened and how you think she's being out of line and a bit bitchy.
Your friend replies " Yeah, she is a b***h and needs to stop already"

Do you think you have the right to be mad that they called your mom a b***h and overstepped or do you think you don't have the right to be mad since you called her a b***h in the first place.

That's pretty typical of a group of 20 year olds....

Why would I be mad?
IMO, you don't talk shit about someone and poison someone's view of them, and then get upset when the person you told is honest with their opinion.

You don't have the right to be mad if you said it first. She could just be trying to sympathize with you.

If you called your mom a b***h, then got mad at someone for agreeing would make you a hypocrite!

No, I wouldn't be mad. But, I wouldn't talk shit about my mom to anyone, either...

I've learned that, even as a vent, it's best not to say negative things about someone, to someone you're close to.
I've said things in the past about my mom, after having a huge fight, and now my in-laws think she's nuts, and I regret it.

I wouldn't be mad at all. I mean I did just call my mom a b***h. Especially if she was like my best friend. Because she knows, oh she knows my mom is crazy.

The way I see it, I have the right to vent to about my family. They're my blood, and they always will be. No one else has that right.

If someone made a post venting about their child's behavior problems and slipped that they're a brat, would it be acceptable for you to reply with "yeah, your kid is definitely a brat, what's wrong with him!?" Absolutely not. It's the same thing.

Exactly this. I don't care how mad I am at her, I would never talk shit about her. She's my mom. That's pretty effed up to do.

It's unfair of you to slander your mother to a friend and get upset when that friend begins to share your view.
