I have been trying to lose weight. I've changed my whole lifestyle. I'm eating healthier, working out, saw a nutritionist, ect... I've only lost 15lbs. It seems like I'm stuck in a rut. I did a little research and learned that Mirena can put a hold on weight liss and make it almost impossible. I have been contemplating for a while actually about getting my Mirena removed because I just eant my body to go back to normal. After reading what I read today, I called my doc and made an apt to have it removed...
My Question, is: has anyone gone though this? Was it easier to lose the weight after getting your Mirena removed? How long did it take until you saw results?
Thanks in advance Ladies.
Idk about after having it removed but when I had dd1 I lost 20 lbs right away. Got more a at 6 wk pp visit and gained it all back. I couldn't lose any weight until I went off bc.
I don't have experience with Mirena, but I always gain and keep on about 20lbs when on hormonal birth control. It's one off the main reasons I wont take it.
I actually lost weight while on Mirena. I was working at the time at a hotel (2 days overnight washing and folding laundry for 8 hours, which included taking trash from 4 stairwells, 3 floors each and I never used the elevator) and 2 days just working front desk. Once I had to quit and we moved, I became a SAHM again and gained all the weight back :( I didn't change my diet while working either, it was just from the exercise alone.
Never used Mirena, but I think most hormonal BC works the same and has the same side effects. I had the depo shot for a year and gained 20 lbs. When I got off of if, I lost the 20 lbs. During all this I had no change in diet or excersize, so I am quite sure the weight was 100% because of the hormones in the BC. I have the Paragard IUD now and it's hormone free. I have not gained any weight since I've had it.
