There is ALWAYS going to be judgemenytal people. On here and in real life. You just need to ignore those who are criticizing you, and don`t let it bother you. When you post such a sensitive topic such as smoking, your going to get some negative attention, however there is also a lot of good people with good advice! :)
Also good luck in your pregnancy mama:)

Seriously, what did you expect. Any person who smokes while pregnant knowing they are harming their babies is not a fit parent! I'm proud to say I used to smoke and quit during all my pregnancies, and right now I am 1 year and 3 months cigarette free, just so I can be around a long time for my kids and to not expose them to second-hand smoke. How selfish to smoke some pointless cigarettes at the expense of your child. So so sad. I've known several people that smoked during their pregnancies, and guess what, surprise surprise, all their children had health problems that they will have the rest of their life and are all very small children! The things said about how it affects their health are not myths and are very real consequenses that you are giving your child because "waah I want to smoke!" I can't stand how selfish people can be over a stupid habit! If being pregnant isn't motivation enough to quit Idk what is wrong with these people!!!! How are you going to explain to your child "You have to take three breathing treatments a day because I wanted to smoke when I was pregnant, sorry kiddo!" because that was me when I was a kid and my mom smoked when she was pregnant! I had SEVERAL near death asthma attacks when I was a child. How would you feel if you knew you were responsible for your childs death? I can just remember gasping for air in the middle of the night trying to call out for my dad but couldn't get the words out, the only thing that saved my freaking life was when I fell to the floor and the sound woke him up.

You wanted a story about somebody who did that? There you go!

Quoting JiLLiAN.:" i'm sure people who don't know you, and aren't even mothers themselves judge you when they see you smoking while pregnant. judging is everywhere OP."

trueeee. i saw a girl walking into walmart VERY pregnant and was smoking. i felt like smacking her. of course i didn't. when we would go out to eat, i'd see pregnant girls sitting in the smoking section. some smoking, some not, but all around smoke. it made me sick. AND, a girl i went to high school with was smoking while she was in labor waiting to go to the hospital... she has a picture of it on her facebook page.

OP, you got plenty of stories. plenty of people told you of their personal experiences. you don't seem to be trying very hard to stop smoking.
the day before i found out i was pregnant, i was drunk. i tested in the middle of the night and found out i was pregnant. i'm absolutely not an alcoholic, but every single day of my pregnancy, all i wanted was alcohol. i never touched a drop of it.

if you really care about the health of your developing baby, you'd have more push to quit. i'm sorry, that's how we all see it. i'm sorry, but you're too young to not be selfish. i am absolutely not saying that all teen moms are selfish. i know several and they have been wonderful mothers from the moment they found out they were pregnant. i'm saying you are not emotionally mature enough to put someone else's needs before your own. you keep saying things to these ladies that i literally only hear teenagers say. you really are in for one hell of a ride, dear.

and you said you only listen to your professional doctor... correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't you say your doctor said smoking while pregnant is BAD and you should probably quit?

Lol. You're a joke.

Nice attempt to justify smoking while pregnant. Seriously.

Seriously, this is sooo not worth debating.

There is a difference between not being ABLE to and not WANTING to. OP made it clear that, despite her doctor telling her she needed to quit, that she wasn't going to listen.

Understand that. Wasn't talking about OP. Was quoting the other girl and her tangent about how anyone who smokes during pregnancy is an unfit parent.

I have to disagree with that one. I don't think that the act of smoking itself during pregnancy makes you unfit or a bad parent...Now, when someone chooses to ignore her doctor on the issue, it might make me wonder, but I wouldn't call her "unfit." Needing a wake-up call, sure.

I quit smoking while I was pregnant, but I know it`s harder for some people then others.
And I don`t ever judge those people. I have a friend who tried so hard her whole pregnancy, she managed to get down to 1-3 a day from a pack a day. She was so upset that she could not fully give it up. And would NEVER smoke in front of people, she was embarrassed, and far from okay with her actions. But its a addiction, and some people struggle more then others with it. I was one of the only people who knew.
I'm not justifying smoking while pregnant, like I said, I quit, and I smoked for 10 years! But just because I could do it, doesn't mean someone else wouldn't struggle more!

I don`t think it`s fair to judge people who are trying, and especially for those who were never smokers, it`s so EASY for you to judge.
I'm not making a debate or trying to offend any one, this is just my personal opinion so please, no one take it personally.
