Shake n an oven bag? *Mary Moon* 1 child; New York 3606 posts

Can I cook shake n bake chicken breasts in an oven bag, like I do my marinated chicken? I can make either or but was wondering if I could make both kinds in an oven bag (not the same bag obviously). Weird question.
Also, why does my chicken breasts come out almost steamed when cooked in an an oven bag? I cut a hole or two in it, and cook at the right temp for the right amount of time. They are still moist despite looking dry, though. I guess I'm shooting for a nice color and a little bit of crispness. I'm wondering if cutting the bag open and exposing the chicken the last 20 min would brown them?

you could but i dont think it would have any crisp/crunch to it that shake and bake does... and even with cutting holes int he bag it creates steam in there, which makes it taste like that. it helps keep in the moisture

The point in the bag is the steaming.

Pan fry them for a couple minutes for a nice golden brown, then bake them in the oven.
And shake n bake wouldn't be crispy in the bag, (the whole steaminess) it would be mushy.
