<blockquote><b>Quoting Amαndα ♕:</b>" What kinda dog is she? Thanks, I love Shepherds too, ideally we wanted two purebreads but Cadi was abused and we couldn't leave her. "</blockquote>

a shar pei/black lab mix. She was a rescue and in really bad shape. We don't know if she got brain damage from it or if she was just bred dumb, but it took my mom 8 years of daily training to teach her to act normal

I miss our mutt Bailey. She was my daughter's best buddy. She was OLD though.

Quoting J+K=Bri+? :):" <blockquote><b>Quoting Amαndα ♕:</b>" Again... dogsbite.org lol not ... [snip!] ... attack reported on the news and when they showed the dog, it was a f**king boxer mix, didn't even look like it had pit in it."

i think all dogs have a potential for aggression; but i'm in insurance, and there's a reason we won't insure any home/business where a "vicious" breed resides. in some areas, you have to buy additional insurance limits if you have one of these breeds - if, that is, you can find a carrier willing to cover you.

*shrugs*
can't argue with the statistics. if shitzus and golden retrievers start a rash of fatal maulings, then i'm sure the insurance industry will revisit their stance.

Couldn't the fact that pit bulls are the breed primarily used in dog fights and the Breed that is primarily raised to be viscous account for the fact that they're involved in more attacks?

Honestly, I don't know any pitties that are viscous, or labs that are either. You know what breed DOES suck though? Akitas. They are sooooo territorial.

there is a huge umbrella for mixed breeds falling under the "pit" family, i'll give you that.
personally, i think poodles, cocker spaniels and dachsunds should be added to the vicious list. they're all mean little bastards.

No I would not.
I do believe that some breeds have more inbred traits that others.
I know everyone will say "no it is how they are raised"...but that goes to my next point, unless I raised the dog myself, i DONT know how it was raised.

Also, yes, all dogs can bite. I grew up in a family of dog-lovers, and was bit quite a few times when I got overly ramnbunctious with the dogs. Difference is, it was just that, a bite, i cried for 5 minutes and got over it, certain breeds will not JUST bite, they will clamp down and not let go and have the instinct to attack you, if they do choose to bite you, rather than just giving you a little nip and moving on with life/

I don't think anyone could even accuse you of following your friends if you think they're wrong.

But we already established her lack of intelligence, I guess

I wouldn't send my kid to any home, daycare or otherwise where a large dog would be around them without my supervision. I was attacked as a child & my parents & the owners were present thankfully.

Oh my gosh :( bet she loves it though.

Iwanted Ev to start this year but they had to be 5 by sept. It's so stupid. She can read and write at a kinder level but she can't go til next year.

I have only ever been bit by one breed....poodle. I hate those dogs. LOL I have lab/pit mixes and would have it no other way.
