Ugh. I'm seriously considering dropping out because I'm SO far behind on my first job and then I just landed a second job last week.

Yikes! Having not worked anything more than part-time in ... my whole life ... I'm basically traumatized by 5-day weeks. Not to mention 9:30 am - 9 pm Thursdays </3.
And open on civic holidays (but get paid time and a half!!)
And tired.

Yeah my second job is open 365 days a year. There are no holidays.

And they've got me starting out with 4 days a week, 7 hours per shift. They're all 7 hour shifts, so I don't foresee those going away, but I do think they'll up it to 5 soon. And that's on top of my other job that's probably about 20-30 hours a week, depending on how much work I have to do. I don't get paid hourly there.

It is. My first job is going away at the end of the summer. After 11 years, they're switching to a computer program for their office that has a feature that basically makes entering patient notes SUPER easy and they don't need me to transcribe anymore. So I grabbed this job as a second job over the summer and then it will become primary once I lose my first one.

Hurtin' about the 365, but if you get paid hourly, that's a fair chunk of change for those days! It sucks that you're working so much over the summer, but I read your reply below and it's definitely better to find something now and work twice as hard as opposed to wait until your other job runs out and you're left with nothing -- I don't know what it's like where you are, but the job situation here is deplorable.

Well the job I just picked up is a serving job at a chain of diners called Waffle House. So I mostly get paid in tips, but the tips are pretty awesome. I made $117 in 7 hours one night. That's almost $17 an hour just in tips. I used to work there before, but quit Christmas Eve (haha) because I was pregnant and my hip kept giving out at work. I hear Christmas is THE busiest day of the year (weird, right?) and EVERYONE works on Christmas (except the evil little high school kids who get to go on family vacations with their parents. Bah) But I hear the tips on Christmas are phenomenal. We'll see this year!

And the job situation here is finally getting better. I see more and more "now hiring" signs popping up every day. But I don't have a degree and I SUCK with desk jobs (I get bored and antsy and end up getting fired for not being able to sit still and do my work or for chatting up my coworkers.) So that leaves me with customer service jobs that either pay min wage ($7.25 an hour) or serving jobs working for tips. I chose the tips. And my managers and coworkers are AMAZING, so that helps with enjoying my job, yanno?

Waffle Houses are very big in my home state (Ohio). Although I never really ate at them, I know a bunch of people who do. Truckers love going to Waffle House.

Yep they do. I live in a rich area, so we mostly cater to a bunch of hung over or high teenager/college kids and old people and then well to do families who bring in 4-6 people at a time. Lol.

I think working at one right off the highway with truck parking would be epic for my tips. But I live nowhere near an interstate, so it'd be a drive for me to get out to one to work at.

I freaking love Waffle House. It's one of my favorite places to eat. Hashbrowns with cheese and jalepenos :) DH doesn't like it unless we're on a road trip or it's late at night lol. I had serious WH cravings when I was pregnant. I ate at the near campus like twice a week lol
