DH and I are talking about having a small tracking device put on her theeth? Not so much to spy on her but just in case she ever "runs" away or God forbids it, she gets kidnapped.
I will putting the Spyware in her computer just because there's a lot of predators out there. Other than that, I hope we have the type of relationship my mother and I had and she call tell me anything.

I put that it depends on the kid. If he never gives me anything to worry about, then probably not. Even if I were to spy, it wouldn't be an everyday type of thing, kwim? I could see myself randomly checking his phone or bag or something, idk.

Why not? Just curious on your reasons.

My kids have computers in their rooms and laptops and an ipad. lol

I wouldn't break my child's trust unless they gave me a reason to. For example they were breaking my trust by lying or if I had suspicion they were in trouble or into drugs or suicidal or something.

Depends on the child.... My parents kept such a close eye on my brother because when he made mistakes they were big ones he couldn't hide.... If my parents had done this to me I may not have made a lot of the mistakes I did. I dont by any means blame them but I think parents can be blind sometimes. If its not right in their faces it must not be happening. But again I think it depends on the child....

I wouldn't either. Just because I would be worried about the whole pedophile shit.. webcams. Recently a girl here in Canada committed suicide due to bullying, come to find out a man she was talking to online asked her to send a topless photo, he made it viral, school kids found out and she was harassed because of it.

Really? You know the government can track those, right? Do you want the government to know where your child is as an adult?

I will be doing things on a case by case basis. I will go through her things/computer if I feel that I can't trust her. She may not like me invading her privacy but that comes second to her safety.

The Federal Government told us the same thing when they passed the Patriot Act. Now we have license plate scanners and drones in neighborhoods.

That's super! But I am not the Government and I DO have her best interest in mind. I know teens don't have the best decision making abilities. I also know what moderation is and I won't be making it part of my everyday parenting.

But, you are teaching your children that spying on them is OKAY as long as someone says it is for their safety.
