we may be getting an eviction notice tommorrow :( We pay 950 rent. After having my son, i stoped working and couldnt find a job to go back to at 6 weeks. Weve gotten behind on rent. We paid last month but we still owe back rent. The landlord gave us till tommorrow to pay everything up to date. We are short $400. SO's friend says we can borrow money but im not sure if we can get it in time. One of the shitty things abut it is, i just got a job and started today. -_-
wow,i hope you pay in time. That blows.

I'm sorry that's rough. If you tell your landlord that you'll have the money within 24 hours and show him proof that your employment status has changed, do you think he would be willing to put off the eviction? And if not, do you guys have somewhere to go?
I would pay whatever you can at the moment and let them know you just got a new job or start looking for somewhere else I guess and use what you have for a security deposit and first month. Hope it works out for you. :?
he legally cannot evict you for 30 days after he gives you written notice.
So you have time to get caught back up.
If you get served with an eviction notice, it will have a number on it for you to appeal it. Do it. You will go before a judge and all they will do is tell you you have X amount of time to pay your back rent or else you have to get out. If you'll have the money it won't be a problem. They usually give you 15 extra days to pay it.
ETA: if he doesn't serve you properly you can also fight it that way. He has to have someone legally serve you.
Even if he evicted you, it takes so long for it to go through court and regardless he has to give you a written notice. I would check the laws in your state

Some states it's only 15daya notice.
if we dont make it in time then ill keep the money plus ill have thirty days to move out and with both of our income we will defiantly have money for a new place. maine sucks though and no bbody moves during the cold season so no good places are available, basically anything intown or in the bad areas around here. we are waiting t here back from SO's friend and hopefully i can beg for another 24hrs :(
