I honestly clicked on this because I thought it said, "Watergate Fruit Salad".

Do you mean waldorf? If not, I have no idea.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not. I've had WaterGate once and loved it. The stuff I had, had marshmellows, pineapple, and cool whip in it along with a few other things.

Oh, it's kind of like ambrosia but with no mandarins or cherries.

Holy crap. I am cracking up. I thought it was only scandalous if it bits of Nixon in it.... but pineapples and marshmallows? I had to laugh.

This is my version of ambrosia, which is similar. It's got mandarins, chopped pecans, mini mallows, toasted coconut, diced pineapple, whipped cream and maraschino cherries. I toss it in a mixture of cream cheese, whipped cream, and sweetened condensed milk.
