Honestly it's not that long of a distance to walk....I've been doing it, and I am high risk, I do it on a treadmill the days that are to hot, as for the activity, swimming is great for pregnant woman and it helps alot with sore achy joints and is just flat out a very good activity. However if you don't think you can handle it, then get a letter from your OB and turn it into the school, if the doc says there is a medical reason you cannot do it then there should be no issues.
