Quoting MILFstatus ;):" Yeah duh, it's the same outcome. Shit from people's hands going into a 2 month old's mouth because they ... [snip!] ... 9 months old because of sicknesses. It's a serious issue and people should respect the mother and the health of the baby. "
Not really because, again, sticking your finger in a child's mouth isn't a "normal" thing to do. It's completely normal for family to want to touch a child's hands. Just have them sanatize before, it's not that big a deal. Children put all sorts of things in their mouths. It's a natural thing. Hell, my b**bs go in my NEWBORN's mouth for pete's sake. Result's still the same as my b**b's been stuffed in a sweaty bra and probably fondled a bit by someone else
Babies immune systems need to be built up. It's been shown time and again that over sanatizing makes children sicker, not healthier, that their immune systems are not as strong as a child whos parents have never sanatized.
Put your kid in a bubble and move on...
Quoting MILFstatus ;):" Um take microbiology, then you'll know so much too. It's also a lot of common sense, which too many ... [snip!] ... and do not put their feet in their mouth, let's be realistic, so if the baby does put her foot in her mouth, it would be rare) "
My son constantly had his foot in his mouth, from the time he discovered them at about a month and a half old. Kid put everything in his mouth, hands, hair, cheek, etc. I have a picture of him trying to put my mom's ear in his mouth at a week old.

You just said to sanitize their hands, and then you said that sanitizing is bad. Also, the OP said that they were not washing their hands, so I'm guessing they weren't sanitizing either. I don't sanitize everything my baby touches but I also don't let people touch my baby's hands because that's like asking for him to get sick.

*I*, personally don't feel sanatizing is beneficial. *I* wouldn't have a problem with people touching my children's hands or, god forbid, putting their fingers in their mouths if it were a "normal" thing to do because *I* don't feel that germs are bad.
I was suggesting it to the OP as a way for *her* to feel comfortable with *her* family touching *her* child :? I said in one of my very first responses *she* should just carry around a thing of hand sanatizer if *she* had that much of a problem with it.

how much time did that take you to put all those asterisks in?
Quoting MILFstatus ;):" how much time did that take you to put all those asterisks in?"
Less time than it took you to come up with that stupid response.
My situation is a little different. My son is a preemie and I take immunosuppressant drugs. Keeping us healthy means guests have to wash their hands or stay away all together if they are sick.
Do I care if someone gets offended? Absolutely not.
Quoting Mama Massa:" Put your kid in a bubble and move on..."
Can't believe my baby has reached 10 months old without dying or getting sick with all the people (including complete strangers while we were out running errands) that touched her hands, feet and GOD FORBID her face!
If it was random people, yes. But they're family. Your baby is not going to catch cancer from old ladies kissing on them.
Quoting jess m401:" I am so tired of all the old ladies in SOs family, there's like 10 of them, that feel the need to touch ... [snip!] ... in her mouth. And its not even like they wash their hands before they do it. It totally grosses me out! Ok I'm done bitching."
I totally understand your issue... its not that u hate the people for showing ur child affection its just that u wish they would have consideration to listen to you as the childs mother and wash their hands before touching her hands.. or at least touch her arm or something.
do what i do- carry around a bottle of hand sanitizer wherever i go. they make everyone who touches your baby in the hospital wash their hands first, so i dont see how its so wrong to ask someone to wash their hands before touching your child. this is however, just a suggestion. im not guna be a stuck up b*tch and tell you to cut off your childs hand like some other ignorant f*cks on here.
i know what its like to be a germ freak- ive become one too.
I'm sorry OP for all the negative comments. My family knows to wash their hands if they want to hold my child and your family should too. The others are idiots and need to step back off their high horse and relax. It's your child and if you don't want anyone touching your child without washing their hands then THAT'S YOUR CHOICE and people SHOULD RESPECT THAT. Just because a child WILL get germs does not mean you go putting them in harms way. They get enough germs from you and don't need extra fecal matter on their hands from someone else. F those who are saying you are overreacting.
So serious ? Do you vaccinate your LO? (or any other mom that freaks out when people touch their babies hands) just curious because if you do you shouldn't worry so much because that's what the vaccine is for is to help protect against serious illnesses and if you don't I can understand why you would be more cautious but how will your baby build up his immune system if he's not exposed?
Btw I have nothing against not vaccinating, Im just truly curious.

Um obviously were not talking about cancer u can't catch that from someone.
