Ok, I know this sounds stupid. But, I work literally 15 minutes from the hospital I'm delivering at. I know that if I go into labor at work, I'm fine. I work with both my MIL and SIL so I know for sure someone is able to drive me to the hospital.
But, I just keep thinking.. I work a half hour from home. On the way to work, with morning traffic, it takes me an hour on the back roads to get there. I pass the hospital on the way, so if I happen to go into labor on the way to work, I'm cool. But, I take the turnpike home, because the back roads are stop and go. Once I get on the turnpike, it's only 3 miles until the exit for the hospital. But, after that exit, it's 7 miles til the next exit (which is the one I get off at.) And, I keep getting nervous that my waters gonna break on my way home from work. Which would be terribly inconvenient.
Haha, I'm a loser. It's like, consuming my thoughts. And I plan on working up until I have LO, cause.. I just can't afford not to, and I'm in perfect health to go, so why not?
haha ur nuts...its cool so am i!
If your so worried about it take another route home?
Quoting Caydence's mommy 4/4/09:" If your so worried about it take another route home?"
The only way home [other then the turnpike] is the back roads, which I take in the morning, which at 5:30 PM is complete bullshit stop and go one lane traffic 90% of the way, so I'd be screwed either way.
If it comes down to you are in labor and don't think you can get yourself to the hospital; pull over and call an ambulance.
I had to think of these things too because I live in a place where all the roads get closed off for college football games. I kept getting worried that I wouldn't be able to get out if I went into labor during a game.... it wasn't a problem I went in to labor at 1:30 in the morning.
I think youll be fine, its not like you push a button and boom the baby is here. Even if you feel your first contractions, or your water breaks, right as you pass the hospital exit, you still have hours until you need to be at the hospital.
Most likely your contractions will be irregular for a while before you even start timing them. I had my first contraction at 315a with my son, didnt leave for the hospital until 630ish, broke my water at the hospital at about 11a, and had him at 12:45 pm. So almost 10 hours after my first good contraction.

I was the same way with DD. And then was in labor for 27 hours afterwards. My water leaked out all day just a tiny bit and I didn't even notice til my first real contraction. I'm just worried the same will happen, haha, Idk.
