I've gone into preterm labor twice now and a week ago I was 3 centimeters dilated, 75% effaced and my LO was at -1. I know I can stay at that point for weeks and I don't want my baby to come just yet but my doctor said if I go into labor now they wont try to stop it again also she starts checking me regularly this coming Tuesday. And i know a lot of hospitals keep you if youre dilates to 4, so my question is if I'm dilated to 4 will the hospital keep me or is it only if you're having contractions and dilated to 4 that they keep you, I just want to have a heads up if what could happen if I have progressed to 4. Thanks!
Mine doesn't do anything until you're 5. it sucks because when i went into labor they wouldn't admit me because I wasn't at 5. My water broke once we got home from the hospital.
I wouldn't see why not.
Mine kept me when I was at a two. I was having consistent contractions though.
Mine kept me at 4 but my water broke so I think that's why.
I would think that you need to be in active labor to keep you.
they kept my friend when she was 4 cm dialted, she wasnt having contractions. i guess she was just going in to do somthing with her appendix and they checked her before hand and seen she was "in labor"
i doubt it.. they might just make you walk and check you again, if you dont progress they will send you home... my friend was 4 cm for 2 weeks.
It really depends on the hospital. With my daughter I was dilated to a 4, and if it didn't change they would have sent me home, (their words).
Here it is 5cm or consistent contractions that are helping you progress at all.

 Wow, that's just asking for trouble. I hope you made it back to the hospital in time.
You need to be having regular contractions or have your water break for the hospitals here to keep you.
Most hospitals keep you when you are between 4-5 centimeters, depending on their policies. If our hospital admits you are you fail to progress for 12 hours they send you back home until you begin exhibiting other signs of labor.
Usually they will keep you no matter how much you are dilated if you are having consistent labor rythym contractions or if your water breaks.
Nope, not unless you're in active labor or your water breaks. I was 4cm for weeks with 3 of my kids.
