I am 33 weeks pregnant and just spent 3 nights in the hospital passing a kidney stone. I have never had one before and it was some of the worst pain I have ever felt! I have heard that pregnant woman are more at risk for this problem... Is that true and since I've had one am I at higher risk for a second one? Has anyone else had this happen to them? Just wondering...
ugh i have them with every pregnancy. i am prone to them. i was hospitalized soo much.
my last pregnancy i had 9 stones in my right kidney. there is still an 8mm one in there.
good luck. kidney stones suck big balls!
I'm not sure if pregnant women are more prone to them, but yes, you are more likely to have them again in general if you have once. :( I'm sorry mama, I heard they're a b***h.
I had one when I was pregnant and it was HORRIBLE! hurt so bad :( I had never had one before pregnancy.
I had one PP, it sucked. It was like labor, like exactly like labor only I didnt have to push something out of my vagina.
But yes pregnant women are more likely.
And I still get them, only they must be smaller because the pain goes away within a few days and isnt as bad.
I havent had one of the horrible ones since.
Kidney stones make me throw up from the pain! I have had them since I was 14. I hope you get no more!!!
Wow so it is pretty common! After doing some reading of online info I found that pregnant woman aren't more prone to making kidney stones but we are more prone to pass them during pregnancy! I have heard a lot of men compare it to giving birth and I always laughed and said "when a stone ripes you open on the way out we'll talk!" Now I am a little more likely to agree. Although the actual delivery of the baby is more painful than the actual exit of the stone the process of passing a stone is a bit worse. The big problem is there isn't any breaks in the pain like with labor and in my case I was having the pain of the stone and that was causing contractions so I had the best of both worlds... I just don't ever want to repete that. I didn't eat for 2 days and I threw up several times due to the pain! Another huge down side is I went through all that and walked out of the hospital empty handed :-( Not that I wanted to have my baby early, but I have been preparing for pain and being away from my 4 year old, I just thought that after going through all of that I would be holding my new baby girl! I hope I don't see the hospital again until this baby is ready!
i've had two this past year.. & i'm terrified to get pregnant again because i'm afraid i'll have one.. what do they do when you have one and your pregnant? i needed a lithotripsy but they probably can't do that when your pregnant right?

i would rather be in labor than have a kidney stone but they wont stay away!
