I know that Chamomile Tea gets a lot of mixed reviews. Some people swear by it, and others are 100% against it. After clearing it with my doctor (who thinks the baby will come when she's ready, and I agree, but am hopeful), I've decided to give it a shot. I bought an organically grown mixture from a local herb shop, the herbalist told me to drink a quart (4 cups) a day. From what I've read it takes a couple days for it to work. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with using chamomile tea to help induce labor? How long should I expect to wait to see results, if it works for me? Yesterday was my first day (I was 38 weeks, 5 days) and I noticed after both rounds of drinking the tea (2 cups each time) I was actually able to go number 2, something I've been struggling with for the past week and a half. I was even able to go number 2 this morning before having any tea, this excited be because as you know one of the early signs of labor is loose/frequent bowel movement, but I don't want to get my hopes up!
We've also be using evening primerose oil for massage since tuesday and actually squirted (it's in a bottle with one of those turkey baster type lids, lol) some up towards my cervix last night, haha.
Anyways, What I'm looking for is advice about Chamomile tea, am I drinking enough, and how long could it take? And if you're one of those people that absolutely hate's the idea of using this tea to induce labor, please don't reply freaking out on me for drinking it, my doctor knows what I'm doing and I trust her 100%!
i tried everything in the book to induce labor..nothing worked for me
If it helps bring on labor id like to know too.... Does it have to be like organic tea, I wonder where else it could be bought?
Raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help tone your uterus.. but you need to drink it regularly for the majority of your pregnancy. I drank it every night during my 2nd and 3rd trimester and labor was cake :)
I was drinking raspberry leaf tea (only like 1 1/2 cups) like wednesday, thursday, and friday because I herd it helps soften stuff up down there, hopefully my lil go at it helped some! haha
Where can you buy these teas at?
I purchased mine from a local herb store. But I'm sure you can find them in any natural food store! The only thing about getting them from a herb store is they generally come in bulk so you'll need a cheese cloth bag or something to steep it in.

i've still not had my baby and i've been drinking both teas religiously...my daughter is going to be just as stubborn as me, i can tell already! they are right, the baby comes when the baby is ready! i've been trying everything under the sun since last saturday to naturally induce and NOTHING has worked!..i even got my membranes swept on thursday..and NOTHING...but hell, it was worth the shot, right?
After I read this I went out and bought some primrose oil I am 2 days past my EDD and I want to try it but I am kind of scared, what did you do just squirted it up in your vag or did you like rub it in, I am trying to find articles for the oil but all they keep talking about is putting a capsule up there.
My bf has beein doing perineal(spelling?) Massage with it...he will squirt some up in there near my cervix, as well as helping "stretch" me out lol...I keep my hips tilted up durring and for a few min after so it can "soak" in...makesure you fold a towel over a couple times and lay on it, I've ruined one of my accent pillows and got oil all over my bedding...I try to relax when he does it...and I avoid doing it myself, BIG MESS lol...good luck! Some women swear by it but it didn't help bring on labor for me..only REALLY help soften my vagina walls lol
okay I am going to try! I asked the man for primrose oil, is there a difference between "evening" primrose oil and primrose oil I got? http://www.evitamins.com/product.asp?pid=5389 that's what I got
sorry to keep asking question I am just nervous putting anything in my hoohah! ha ha
Well, I said I wanted primrose oil, and the label they put on the bottle said evening primrose oil. My vote is there is not a difference, but I could be wrong. Maybe the word "evening" is just used to make it sound fancy, lol. Don't worry about questions, I ask them ALL the time! You have the right to be informed about what you're doing to your body! lol
