Expired carseats... is it illegal? lauren [+2] Due March 14; 2 kids; Georgia 13472 posts

So, I live in a small shitty little town in the middle of nowhere. Well, it's not THAT small, but its only got 4 red lights and it's the country. Well, the rednecks out here have a weird way of making money. They set up 'flea markets' in their front yards and basically have a year round yardsale.

WELL, there is this one place, it's in a business like building, so I'm not sure if that changes things (the people still live there)... but....

They have like at LEAST 40 carseats, some with bases and some without for sale. Besides being dirty from being outside the only problem with this was that I looked at every single one of them and ALL of them had manufacture dates before 2002. Some of them even had a dates from the 90's. The oldest one I remember had a Mfg Date of 91.

Is this even LEGAL? I mean, not only are they expired they are being exposed to EXTREME temps.. it's like 104 degrees today.... that plastic has GOT to be rotting/ready to crack or something!

I just wish there was something I could do. I mean, these seats do NOT look safe.

I see a lot of people selling car seats like that in swap meet in Salt Lake City.

You're not suppose to buy expired car seats so I'm pretty sure you're not suppose to sale them either. I know at our local baby cosignment shop won't take anything expired.

I would call the police non-emergency number. If that doesn't work, I'd protest the place :] I'd stand out on the sidewalk with signs so that everyone knew the dangers of those seats.
