My poor baby fell off the bed last night and busted her lip. The swelling is pretty bad but her cut isn't very deep. I've done what I need to do to treat the cut but the swelling is so bad and today is not only her 2nd bithday but the day of her party. I am so heartbroken over what happened :( I know there is nothing I can do at this point but if I could get the swelling to go down I would feel alot better about the situation. Idon't wantto remember her birthday byher huge swollen lip. Any tips or tricks besides ice? Thanks.

ICE, always helps with swollen anything lol... If you cant hold it there have her suck on ice cube or a popsicle maybe?

I goggled just to see, since other mamas listed what I would have said.

"There are some home remedies to treat swollen lips. Apply some ice cubes covered in a towel on the swollen lips. Otherwise, keep a spoon in the freezer for some time and apply on the lips. You can also try hot packs. Hold a towel dipped in a warm water for 10-15 minutes. Heat reduces the accumulation of blood in the swollen area and thus, decreases swelling. These remedies are useful, if lip swelling is due to an injury."

So you can do a combo of heat and ice, maybe it will help more....

We do Popsicle b/c K (who is a typical boy and had a few in his time) won't hold ice on it.

My son Lamar was running through the house today with the remote in his hand ... Somehow while running he fell and bit his lip. Not only did the bite on his lip bleed but he bit a good piece of his lip. The bleeding has stopped but the swelling is horrifically terrifying. He's asleep now but as I take pictures of him, my baby's lip looks worst and the more I feel bad. wWhat do I do ? Although I know I will some day laugh about my stress and how soft I was and tough he was; its just a mother's conscience that makes her feel like its something more she could've done.

I would be icing my bottom lip, 15 minutes on, 15 minutes off. Take a couple of lip plumpers which will help you to reduce the swelling. Having loose teeth after taking a blow to the face is normal. Hopefully nothing comes of it and you don't need root canals, but that is in the realm of possibility.

Good luck!
