OKay Mommies... recently discovered that my son was given a partial circumcision, at birth, rather than a full circumcision and we're now going to have to have it corrected, as soon as possible, as to avoid him being old enough to remember (he's almost 20 months).
The doc had already had to "fix" his circumcision at his appt. the beginning of this month (basically she had to rip the skin back up because it had reattached itself due to the partial and had caused an infection... poor boy) but, as it's been healing, a former EMT friend and I noticed that it still doesn't look like it should, which is when we realized it's a partial, not a full... I'm not a boy and Daddy has been deployed for quite a while so it took a little longer than we'd like for me to realize it. Anyway, now it needs to be fixed and I'm not sure what to expect or what I can do to make it a little easier.
Has anyone else been through this? Any advice, stories, etc. you care to share?
Why not just leave it alone?
Both my boys, we're given partials.. My Pedi said it's common anymore

Was just reading a forum on steadyhealth.com by a teenage boy about how a similar situation (his is a bit worse) causing problems and was rather shocked at how many other teen boys (15 to 19) responded with the same problems, that it can cause serious medical problems, surgery later in life, embarrassing sexual experiences... yeah, definitely going through the full circumcision. That is definitely not something I'd wish on anyone, let alone my own child. I knew there were a number of medical reasons to circumcise but, there were plenty of non-medical for us to make the decision already!
So I finally got ahold of the doctors office and the nurse said she'd never heard of a partial circumcision either (I hadn't until I started researching online) and that it could just be that San Diego messed it up but, we got an appointment set up for next week so the doc can check it out again and we can get it taken care of right this time!:)
